How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Albany Medical College!
Surgical critical care fellows must be board-eligible in one of the following disciplines:
- Emergency Medicine
- General Surgery
- Urology
- Neurosurgery
- OBGYN
- Vascular Surgery
- Thoracic Surgery
- The completion of three years in General Surgery and a categorical position in Surgery at the completion of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship
Applicants who are completing Anesthesia training programs will also be considered and are encouraged to apply.
We offer a one-year Surgical Critical Care Fellowship and a two-year Emergency Medicine Surgical Critical Care Fellowship where the fellow completes the first year of rotations in general surgery to fulfill the American Board of Surgery’s general surgery training experience requirement. Our program is accredited by the ACGME and approved by the Residency Review Committee (RRC) for Surgery.
We participate in the National Resident Matching Program.
Eligibility
Successful candidates for the position of clinical fellow must have completed a Residency in Emergency Medicine. Candidates must have also graduated from a Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) accredited medical school or possess certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
In addition, candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the New York State. More information about the requirements for New York State licensing can be obtained by contacting the Medical Board at the address below.
Privileges must be obtained at Albany Medical Center once a New York State medical license is obtained.
