We offer many elective courses during the senior year to best serve each student’s individual needs and goals. Students with well-defined career goals and those who are still in the process of choosing a specific area to focus on have a wide assortment of electives to choose from. Most courses are two or four weeks in duration.
Students are also encouraged to approach faculty members for the development of unique courses.

| Course Description: | Prerequisites: Successful completion of 3rd year. Course Description: This independent study elective is designed for students who have an interest in the application of technology in medicine. The student will research a topic of interest subject to the instructor's approval. In addition to searching multiple resources, the student will be expected to conduct one interview relevant to the research. Sample topics include electronic health records; social media; decision support systems; metadata; point of care tools; or technology in patient care compliance, education and training, health literacy, or quality. PLEASE NOTE: THIS COURSE QUALIFIES AS A NON-CLINICAL ELECTIVE. ADDITIONALLY, STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE ELECTIVE COURSE REQUIREMENTS IN THE SAME TIMEFRAME FOR WHICH THEY ARE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED FOR THE COURSE. |
