Albany Medical College Postdoctoral Programs

Albany Medical College offers postdoctoral programs in four research departments: Immunology and Microbial Disease, Molecular and Cellular Physiology, Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics, and Regenerative and Cancer Cell Biology.

The program has a curriculum that helps participants prepare highly competitive fellowship and grant applications, research papers and presentations, translational and patent-oriented studies, and academic job applications. In the first year, you’ll receive resources for success in biomedical research. In the second year, we’ll help you prepare for a successful job search.

Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics

We support enhancing your scientific understanding of neuroscience and experimental therapeutics, and current and future medical treatments. Our research expertise focuses on epilepsy, stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, demyelinating disease, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Our goal is to foster biomedical research that leads to scientific discoveries that lead to improved health and responds to the needs of our communities.

Postdoctoral fellows are a critical component of the research and educational mission of our department. Our fellows are supported through a variety of mechanisms including postdoctoral positions on faculty grants. Many fellows also obtain individual postdoctoral awards from various agencies including the NIH (F and K awards), nonprofit organizations, or the Albany Medical Center Foundation.
