How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in the Vascular Surgery Fellowship at Albany Medical College!
If you are interested in applying to our program, the information below will provide an overview of what to expect throughout the recruitment process – from applying to interviewing.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for admission to our Vascular Surgery Fellowship program must meet the following criteria:
- Successfully completed an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency;
- USMLE Step I and II both passed on first attempt;
- J-1 visas only; we are unable to sponsor H1-b visas.
Application Requirements
Applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). No other applications will be accepted. The matching process is managed by the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
ERAS application requirements:
- CV
- Medical School Transcript and Diploma/Certificate
- Personal Statement
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) letter
- At least three current Letters of Recommendation - one of which should be from your Program Director
- USMLE Step I and II results
- ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
- ABSITE Scores
Application Review Process
All applications submitted before the date that ERAS opens to fellowship programs will be reviewed. Applications that are incomplete or received after that date may not be reviewed.
All ERAS screened data filters remain in place until after interview invitations are sent. Applications are reviewed without access to your: Basis for Work Authorization, Birth Date, Current Work Authorization, Felony Conviction, Hometown(s), Limitations, Misdemeanor Conviction, Photo, Self-Identification, Gender, Visa Sponsorship Needed, Visa Sponsorship Sought.
Invitations to Interview
The APDVS (Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery) has recommended a Universal Release Date: all interview offers will be extended on October 15, 2026, with rolling offers thereafter.
Invitations will be sent through the Thalamus platform.
In-Person Interviews
Invited applicants will spend the day meeting with our program leadership, faculty, residents and fellows.
