Message from the Program Director

Our integrated residency in plastic surgery is an ACGME-accredited six-year residency that accepts two residents per year. We are committed to providing our residents with excellent training in the full spectrum of plastic surgery including microsurgery, craniofacial, extremity and facial fracture trauma reconstruction, cosmetic surgery, hand, and wound care.

The varied caseload and individual expertise of both the core faculty and adjunct clinical faculty contribute to the development of a clear understanding of anatomy and pathophysiology and to the acquisition of fundamental operative skills and judgment to develop well rounded plastic surgeons. A significant emphasis is placed upon prudent preoperative planning and adherence to fundamental principles.

The philosophy of our program is complete integration of plastic surgical training throughout the residency program, beginning on day one. Our residents learn graduated responsibility for patient care and technical expertise for a broad range of surgical disciplines in addition to their plastic surgery rotations. The clinical exposure provided here will give residents the tools needed to succeed in any area of plastic surgery. In addition to a diverse clinical experience, education is augmented by a robust didactic curriculum as well as access to cadaver labs for dissection sessions and a state-of-the-art simulation center, which are described in more detail in our curriculum.

We are committed to providing this experience in a collegial and diverse atmosphere to promote the well-being of our residents and faculty, and we encourage the development of lifelong relationships and mentorships. Our high clinical volumes and well-rounded education provide excellent comprehensive training in plastic surgery and prepare our graduates to succeed in either academic or private practice, or to pursue the fellowships of their choice.

Thank you for your interest in our program!
