Helping Prepare Teens for a Career in Science

Science & Technology Entry Program (STEP) is a state-funded program that offers a robust experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) for middle and high school students who are from underrepresented backgrounds or economically disadvantaged. Twice weekly throughout the academic year, students convene on the campus to hone science skills and practice scientific thinking with the guidance of medical students, faculty, visiting lecturers, professionals and practitioners, and STEP staff.

  • STEP classes and activities from September to May

STEP Candidates

  • Highly motivated 7-11th grade students
  • From a minority background or economically disadvantaged
  • Good academic standing
  • Interest in majors and career paths in health care, medicine, technology, or other science
