Message from the Program Director
Residents in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Albany Medical College are trained by a core faculty of generalists and subspecialists committed to both superb patient care and excellent resident education.
Albany Medical Center is a large academic tertiary care center serving a catchment area spanning hundreds of miles, resulting in a patient population that is both diverse and medically complex. Our residents benefit from this breadth of clinical exposure, as well as from faculty who are deeply dedicated to their education and growth.
We offer a robust didactic curriculum, including a protected half-day of teaching time each week. This encompasses traditional didactics, case-based learning, simulation, OSCEs, and a Wellness curriculum. Beyond the clinical environment, we are committed to fostering a strong sense of community — from the new interns' welcome dinner to the annual resident fall retreat — because we believe that resident well-being is inseparable from resident success.
Residents receive comprehensive experience in complex family planning, gynecologic oncology, and urogynecology, which prepares them to graduate as confident, competent general obstetrician-gynecologists. For those whose goals include fellowship training, we have the mentorship, resources, and track record to support competitive applications.
Our residents choose Albany Medical College for a rigorous yet humane academic training experience where teaching is a genuine priority. Our four-year program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and approved by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).
