Middle States Commission on Higher Education

Middle States accreditation logoAlbany Medical College is an institution accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) (1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MD #166, Wilmington, DE 19801) 267-284-5011, MSCHE website. The MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). In 2021-2022, the MSCHE reaffirmed our accreditation, finding that we met all Standards and Requirements of Affiliation. The next full reaccreditation review will be in 2028-2029.

Liaison Committee on Medical Education

LCME college accreditation logoAlbany Medical College is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) of the American Association of Medical Colleges (655 K Street NW, Suite 100, Washington DC, 20001, 202-828-0400). The LCME is recognized by the US Department of Education and the World Federation for Medical Education as the reliable authority of medical education programs leading to the MD degree. The next LCME full reaccreditation review will be in 2025.

Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education

Accreditation Council on GME logoAlbany Medical College offers 46 residency and fellowship programs in compliance with requirements set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (Suite 2000, 401 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611). The ACGME is an independent, not-for-profit, physician-led organization that sets and monitors the professional educational standards essential in preparing physicians to deliver safe, high quality medical care to all Americans. The next ACGME reaccreditation review will be in 2028.

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education

CME Accreditation logoAlbany Medical College is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (401 N. Michigan Ave. - Suite 1850 - Chicago, IL) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. ACCME accreditation seeks to assure both physicians and the public that continuing medical education activities sponsored by Albany Medical College meet the high standards of the Essentials & Standards for Accreditation as specified by the ACCME. The ACCME rigorously evaluates continuing medical education programs according to standards adopted by all seven of its sponsoring organizations, which include the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Hospital Association, American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Association for Hospital Medical Education, Council of Medical Specialty Societies, and the Federation of State Medical Boards of the US.

Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs

Albany Medical College's Nurse Anesthesiology Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) (222 South Prospect Avenue, Suite 304, Park Ridge, IL 60068) 847-655-1160. The COA is a specialized accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. In 2019, the COA granted the program a 10-year accreditation, which is the longest accreditation cycle administered by the COA. The next re-accreditation review will be in 2028.

Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant

PA Program accreditation logoAccreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation Continued status to the Albany Medical College Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Albany Medical College. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA Standards. Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the Standards. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be March 2028. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation Standards and ARC-PA policy. The program's accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website.

Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) logoAlbany Medical Center is fully accredited to provide Level I, Level II, and Certified Educator CPE by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (55 Ivan Allen Jr. Boulevard, Suite 835, Atlanta, GA 30308). ACPE is the only accredited agency in the field of clinical pastoral education by the US Secretary of Education, through the US Department of Education. the next reaccreditation review will be in December of 2023.

We encourage students to seek resolution of complaints at the institution, following policies and procedures in the Student Handbook for their program. Each organization on this list also has policies in place for students to file complaints against an accredited program. If a student alleges that we are in violation of accreditation standards or wants to challenge our accreditation, they may obtain information on filing a complaint by contacting the accrediting agency.
