“Humble”, “Esteemed” Physician Named Unsung Hero by Statewide Emergency Physician Group

Peter Gordon, MD, Albany Med emergency department physician, has been named an Unsung Hero by the New York chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians (NYACEP).

The honor recognizes emergency physicians who go above and beyond to provide exemplary care to their patients and share their knowledge and experience with young clinicians.

Denis Pauze, MD, chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, says Dr. Gordon “embodies everything one could for as an Emergency Medicine Physician,” noting in his nomination that Dr. Gordon has volunteered to dedicate clinical time to vulnerable emergency department patients in need of psychiatric evaluation and care.

“He is a kind and caring physician, one who is selfless, humble and incredibly astute,” Dr. Pauze said. “He is the physician you would want to take care of your family member.”

Gordon is one of 26 emergency physicians recognized throughout New York state in NYACEP’s 2021 list of Unsung Heroes.
