Learn MoreIllness and serious injuries occur when you least expect them. When they do happen, Albany Medical Center is here for you and your family.
Albany Medical Center is one of the busiest trauma centers in New York State. There are approximately 70,000 visits to Albany Med's emergency room each year. As a designated Level One Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, our emergency physicians and nurses work around the clock to provide the most advanced emergency care found in Northeastern New York.
Working closely with emergency first responders and the Albany Med-based LifeNet helicopter, our emergency personnel care for patients transported from the scene of an accident or transferred from a community hospital. Often patients are transferred to Albany Med because of the specialized level of care that only we provide in the region.
Regardless of the patient’s condition, our goal is to provide compassionate, state-of-the-art care to ensure our patients have the best outcome possible. And, we take the care of our pediatric patients very seriously. We are the only hospital in the region that provides a dedicated space for pediatric emergencies by offering a separate treatment area with equipment specifically designed for children.
Our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine and trained to handle highly complex, life-threatening cases as well routine medical emergencies. Starting July 25, 2011, our emergency doctors are providing urgent care services to patients at Malta Medical Arts.
