Specimen Collection: 5 mL blood (sodium heparin green top tube preferred, Lavender acceptable). Patient should abstain from alcohol for 24 hours prior to draw. Place immediately on wet ice. Requires genetic consent. 
Minimum Volume: 3 mL 
Handling Instructions for Offsite Areas: Must be drawn at AMC main campus. Sample must arrive at Mayo within 72 hours of draw. Maintain Whole Blood refrigerated. If specimen cannot arrive within 72 hours, ie Friday draw, order PEWE (Porphyrins Evaluation, washed erythrocytes). Min 3 mL.
