Specimen Collection: 10 mL blood (lavender, sodium heparin green or lithium heparin green top tube).
Place on ice. Deliver to Special Chemistry ASAP.
Patient should be fasting for four or more hours without smoking. Walnuts, bananas, and α-methyldopa (Aldomet) should be avoided for a week prior to sampling. 
Minimum Volume: 5 mL 
Handling Instructions for Offsite Areas: Centrifuge for 20 minutes, remove plasma, freeze within 1 hour of collection. Min 2.2 mL plasma.
