About Us
The Albany Medical Center Foundation was created to encourage regional and national philanthropy in support of the mission and ambitions of Albany Medical Center, which includes the Albany Medical College and Albany Medical Center Hospital.
The Albany Medical Center Foundation's mission is to enhance Albany Medical Center's three-fold mission of patient care, education and research. At Albany Medical Center, we have placed our focus on finding solutions to the challenges we face. In doing so, the Foundation plays an important role in strengthening our overall capital and endowment position and enhancing our three-fold mission. The Foundation will enable excellence in patient care, education, and research through programs of community outreach and education, pace-setting philanthropic support through the solicitation of gifts, grants and planned philanthropy. Foundation support will be solicited from individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations for annual, capital and endowment purposes within the entire academic health sciences center.
The overwhelming success of the Pillars Campaign (2000-2004), the largest fundraising drive in the history of Albany Med, raised over $131.6 million ($6 million beyond original goal) in support of the Center's three-part mission and secured the AMC Foundation as an invaluable resource to the Center.
The Foundation's fiduciary role is to accept and acknowledge gifts from individuals, businesses, charitable organizations and philanthropic foundations and distribute them to the Medical Center and its departments and programs. The Foundation's Board consists of 25 leadership volunteers who provide counsel to the Center's Development office staff, and encourage and engage individuals and organizations to support Albany Medical Center.
