Krishnakumar Hongalgi is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Albany Medical College. Dr. Hongalgi has a vast experience in both internal medicine and nephrology. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Metrohealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio; and Nephrology Fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NY. His expertise include, acid-base disorders, acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension and management of glomerular diseases. He is also an expert of renal replacement therapies including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.

Dr. Hongalgi has a keen interest in the delivery of continuous renal replacement therapy in the management of acute kidney injury in intensive care units. He is a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the National Kidney Foundation. Dr. Hongalgi has delivered numerous lectures, authored multiple abstracts and conducted research in the area of HIV-associated nephropathy.
