Pain Specialist Joins Albany Med's Pain Management Team
ALBANY, N.Y., August 15, 2011—Segun Dawodu, M.D., a specialist in the latest techniques for the management of neck and back pain as well as electrodiagnostic medicine to evaluate nerve and muscle function, has been appointed associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Dawodu is a board-certified specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with sub-specialization and board certifications in Pain Medicine, Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, Sports Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He specializes in the use of Botox and electrodiagnostic studies to treat chronic neck and back pain and muscle spasms.
His depth of knowledge related to his area of medicine was obtained through extensive travel and pursuit of opportunities to further his education. He received his medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in Nigeria. He then completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at San Fernando General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as a residency in surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Edinburgh, UK. He also completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center where he was chief resident.
Most recently, Dr. Dawodu treated patients at his private practice in Bowie, Md. and Fairfax, Va. He has also served as attending physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
In addition to his extensive list of medical credentials, Dr. Dawodu holds a law degree from the University of London and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Johns Hopkins University. He is a pilot and a member of numerous professional and academic organizations, as well as a contributor to several medical journals.
