The Capital Region Children's Environmental Health Center

The Albany Children’s Environmental Health Center is a rapidly expanding pediatric environmental health program within NYSCheck, New York State's designated children's environmental health centers.

Our site specializes in asthma and asthma-related environmental issues. We work closely with our partners, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), the New York State Department of Health (DOH), Clean & Healthy New York, and the Asthma Coalition of the Capital Region, to improve the quality of medical care for patients with asthma and reduce the burden of environmental triggers. The Center’s asthma initiatives align with those of the NYS DOH Asthma Quality Improvement Collaborative (AQIC).

To make an appointment, call 518-262-5588.

We provide evidence-based, clinical pediatric environmental health services for families and health care professionals including phone consultations, telemedicine visits, and in-person visits. Our areas of expertise include lead poisoning and prevention, asthma, indoor air quality, and smoking cessation for adolescents and adults.

To schedule a visit, contact our General Pediatrics Clinic at 518-262-5588.

Environmental Health Screening for Healthy Homes

We have integrated Environmental Health e-screening into routine well-child care. We help families to identify common environmental concerns and refer them to community resources such as home-based services to reduce asthma triggers.

We train health care professionals and trainees to incorporate environmental health into routine health care. Together with partners, we educate families and communities about environmental health.

Getting Ready for Baby

The Getting Ready for Baby coalition works to ensure all products made and sold for babies and young children are free from harmful chemicals that can disrupt healthy development and contribute to disease. Learn more.
