Cary M. Qualia, M.D., Honored by Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation

ALBANY, N.Y., November 9, 2013 ‹Albany Medical Center pediatric gastroenterologist Cary M. Qualia, M.D., received the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation (CCFA), Upstate Northeastern New York chapter's Physician of the Year award at the foundation's annual gala. The award is presented to an area doctor who is committed to the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Dr. Qualia, who is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College, has been honored numerous times for patient care and education including receiving both the Pediatric Faculty Teaching award and the Medicine/Pediatrics Attending of the Year award at Albany Medical Center.
Additionally, he serves on the medical board of the Upstate Northeastern N.Y. chapter of the CCFA, is the president of the Capital District Pediatric Society and recently became a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Pediatric IBD Foundation.
He has published multiple articles on various topics within pediatric gastroenterology and has been an invited lecturer both nationally and locally on more than 100 occasions.
Dr. Qualia earned his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, N.Y. where he also served his residency. He was a pediatric gastroenterology fellow at Golisano Children's Hospital in Rochester, N.Y., before arriving at Albany Medical Center in 2007.
