Karen Casey was reading a magazine and the Quilts for Kids logo caught her eye. She made a call to the Pennsylvania-based organization to learn more about the program and within a short time, was the leader of an Albany Chapter of the international organization of volunteers who create and donate quilts to comfort children in need.
She initiated Albany's program in 2013. By the end of the year, the Albany Chapter of Quilts for Kids provided 201 quilts to patients at Albany Medical Center.
"It just warms your heart every time you even put a stitch on a piece of material," Karen said. "The care that goes into everyone of the quilts that is being made; the people just love doing it."
All materials and supplies are donated with every quilt made in our area going to children who are cared for at Albany Med.
