Dr. James Wymer specializes in the diagnosis and management of neuromuscular diseases and neuropathic pain including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s disease and peripheral neuropathies. He also sees patients with general neurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and migraine headaches. Dr. Wymer has an extensive experience in clinical research, and has been the principal investigator in numerous clinical trials including studies of ALS, diabetic neuropathy, multiple sclerosis, migraine headaches and epilepsy. He is currently a member of several national consortiums to research neuropathic pain and ALS.

Dr. Wymer is part of a team of specialists who offer a comprehensive approach to care, while constantly exploring new and innovative ways to diagnose and treat patients with neuromuscular diseases and neuropathic pain. His research experience and contributions to Albany Medical Center will continue to be a valuable resource to the physicians and patients of our region.
