Louann Kuntz, Manager - PT, DPT, MEd, ATC
Louann obtained a doctoral degree in physical therapy from The Sage Colleges in 2006. Dr. Kuntz also holds a masters degree in health education from the College of New Jersey and two bachelors degrees one in health and physical education with a specialization in athletic training from Lock Haven University, PA and one in physical therapy from Russell Sage College, NY. Louann has worked at Burlington County College in NJ, Union College in NY, and The Sage College in NY as well as serving as a volunteer athletic trainer at the United States Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, NY.

Louann became the manager of AMC's outpatient physical therapy department in 2000 after working at a large outpatient clinic for 8 years. Since joining AMC she has worked hard to improve the quality of care delivered. Dr. Kuntz brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of sports medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and functional rehabilitation. Her infectious enthusiasm, energy, and devotion to her patients and job have earned her Employee of the Month honors for the entire hospital.

Dr. Kuntz presented a case report on "Eccentric Muscle Training With Visual Feedback To Improve External Rotation Strength In A Patient With Total Shoulder Arthroplasty" at The Sage Research Symposium.

Jason P. Gagnon, Senior Physical Therapist - PT, CSCS                                               Jason obtained a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from Utica College of Syracuse University in 1999. He received his certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2000. Jason joined the AMC team in 2001 as a staff inpatient therapist where he focused upon treatment in the orthopedic and pediatric departments. Jason became part of the outpatient team in 2002. He has had the privilege to lecture to the New York State Athletic Trainers Association on the importance of core stability for the athlete as well as to the community on proper body mechanics and posture. In addition to treating patients Jason assists the manager in daily operations, supervision and instruction of staff therapists and support staff.

Jason enjoys working with athletic injuries and neurological impairments especially spinal cord injured patients. Jason was the research coordinator and lead therapist for the NYS Spinal Cord Injury Research Program entitled “Implanted Neuroprostheses for Exercise, Standing and Transfers,” conducted by AMC and the Cleveland FES Center from 2004-2008.  Additionally he was a co-author for two published journal articles resulting from the above-mentioned project. Currently Jason is a doctoral candidate for a DPT degree at Utica College.

Jessica Kaplan, Senior Physical Therapist - PT, DPT
Dr. Kaplan earned her doctoral degree in physical therapy from Simmons College in Boston, MA in 2006. Jessica has spent much of her career working in a variety of settings including inpatient and outpatient hospital physical therapy departments and in the private practice setting. Jessica joined our outpatient physical therapy team in 2008 and enjoys treating orthopedic, sports injuries as well as the geriatric population.

Throughout her career she has learned many techniques and brings a strong sense of manual orthopedic techniques to our clinic. She is also qualified to perform Functional Capacity Evaluations.

Gary Mott, Physical Therapist II - PT, DPT
Gary joined the AMC team in 2004 and brings a very strong background in manual orthopedic techniques to the clinic. He graduated from the University of Hartford in 1998 and since has worked in a variety of settings using both traditional and current treatment techniques to better address the needs of his patients. Gary is also trained to perform Functional Capacity Evaluations to determine a person’s ability to perform specific job duties.

In 2011, Gary received his Doctoral degree from the Sage Colleges and uses that knowledge to provide treatment to his patients based on the most current research. He also provides therapy at AMC’s satellite clinic located at Capital District Psychiatric Center, oversees volunteers and clinical education, and directs the outcomes committee in using research to help our clinic provide the highest quality level of care.

Gary presented a case report on "The use of manual physical therapy in the treatment of sacroiliitis" at The Sage Research Symposium in 2010.

Kerri L. Preston, Physical Therapist II, PT, DPT

Kerri received a doctoral degree in physical therapy from The Sage Colleges in 2010. She has spent over 15 years working in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has experience treating patients of all ages with a variety of medical problems. These include orthopedic, neurological and cardiopulmonary conditions. She is currently overseeing the outpatient cardiac rehabilitation program and outpatient physical therapy for AMC employees located at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Dr. Preston is an adjunct instructor at The Sage Colleges teaching cardiopulmonary physical therapy techniques. She has given lectures on the role of physical therapy in treating wounds, arthritis, and diabetes as well as the benefits of exercise and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. She has given guest lectures in the community on a variety of topics including cardiac health and wellness, the benefits of exercise and massage, as well as joint anatomy and function to elementary children. Through Albany Med’s STEPS program for Albany high school students and The Boy Scouts of America, Dr. Preston has had the opportunity to hosts discussions on the benefits of a higher education and to promote the profession of physical therapy.

Kerri joined the Albany Med in 2004 and uses her diverse experience to give effective, fun, and restorative care to all her patients. She is enthusiastic and enjoys sharing her knowledge with patients, staff, community members and students alike.

Christina Bailie, Staff Physical Therapist - PT , DPT, MS
Chrissy obtained a doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from the Sage College in 2009.  Dr. Bailie also holds a master's degree in physical therapy from Ithaca College. Chrissy started her career in Alabama working as supervising therapist for skilled nursing facility. Chrissy joined the AMC team in 2004.

Chrissy has focused her continued education in manual therapy techniques in order to better address the core area of her patient's complaints and provide them with long term relief from their pain. 

Heidi M. Fowler, Staff Physical Therapist - PT, DPT
Heidi obtained her doctoral degree in physical therapy at Utica College in 2009 and joined the AMC outpatient team in the fall of 2009. Before working at AMC, Dr. Fowler worked per-diem at a clinic working primarily with acute care patients and nursing home residents. 

Dr. Fowler enjoys skiing and she coaches young racers in the sport of skiing, as well as working out and playing softball in her free time. Dr. Fowler brings her love of skiing and extensive sports background when working with patients and enjoys rehabilitating sports medicine related injuries.

Huijuan Xu, Physical Therapy Assistant - PTA
Huijuan received her Medical Doctor (MD) degree from Nanjing Medical School in China in 1986. She then taught biochemistry at Yan Cheng Health College for over 5 years. She has been part of the team since she graduated from Maria College PTA program in 1998. Hui Juan enjoys working with all types of patients especially those with a history of low back pain and neck pain with headaches. She places a strong emphasis on correct posture and functional exercise in order to return her patients to the highest level of function possible. Hui Juan has taken continuing education classes in manual therapy techniques and uses them to achieve the best possible outcome for all of her patients.

Andrea Hughes, Physical Therapy Assistant - PTA
Andrea joined the AMC Outpatient Physical Therapy team in early 2008. She earned her associates degree from Maria College in Albany, NY in 2002. Since graduation Andrea has gained extensive experience and skills in manual therapy, orthopedic and neurological injuries and Aquatic Therapy. Andrea is an extremely creative, innovative, and gifted.  She individualizes each patients program to meet their specific needs while challenging them to achieve their very best. 

Andrea keeps her skills sharp and stays on the cutting edge of physical therapy care by participating in numerous continuing education seminars and workshops. She especially likes Pilate's, Tai Chi, Core Stability and Neuromuscular re-education.

Sarah Hoge, Physical Therapist - DPT, MSBS
Dr. Hoge graduated from Sage Graduate School in 2012. Sarah joined the team in January of 2011.  Prior to that, Sarah worked in Ohio for 4 years at an outpatient clinic specializing in orthopedics and manual therapy.

Sarah enjoys working with patients with sports related injuries and general orthopedic injuries.  She has taken continuing education courses in manual therapy techniques related to sacroiliac dysfunction and cervicothoracic alignment problems.

Sarah enjoys traveling, running, and playing sports in her free time.
