Bioness Electric Stimulator
The Bioness electric stimulator uses mild electrical stimulation and delivers this stimulation to the muscles for retraining hand and foot function. This advanced technological device provides functional and therapeutic benefits for people with impaired upper and lower extremities from neurological diseases and disorders such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injuries, or spinal cord injuries.
For inpatients and outpatients, the NESS H200 Hand Rehabilitation System is designed to help patients regain mobility in their upper extremities. The NESS L300 Foot Drop System is also available for inpatient rehabilitation to help patients walk more safely and easily.
Albany Med is the only hospital in the region that offers patients robotic technology designed to assist, enhance, and quantify neuro-rehabilitation. This robotic technology, known as the InMotion Robot, has been proven to significantly help restore and retrain a patient's arm function. The robot-aided therapy is typically used by patients undergoing stroke rehabilitation. The InMotion Robot utilizes interactive, user-friendly clinical devices designed not only to evaluate patients, but also to deliver meaningful therapy via engaging “video games.
