Epilepsy Monitoring Unit

The epicenter of Albany Med’s epilepsy program is the inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU). The EMU provides six fixed beds and one portable unit for continuous digital video and EEG monitoring to record, characterize and map patients’ seizures.

Albany Med provides the only neurological observation unit in the region, with a team dedicated to caring for patients with stroke and other serious neurological conditions.

Solitaire Blood Clot Retrieval Device

Solitaire is a stent-like tube that is surgically inserted through a small incision in the groin and threaded via catheter through the femoral artery to the location of the blood clot in the brain.
