At Albany Medical Center, we know just how special every baby is and are dedicated to providing the best possible care to babies and their families. We are the regional expert when it comes to caring for babies born early or with health challenges.
Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center is a New York State designated Level 4 regional center for critically ill newborns. We provide intensive medical, surgical and nursing care, life support systems, electronic monitoring and a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities and maintain an active infant transport service (air and ground).
A prenatal consultation service is provided by telephone and/or office visit to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Med. In collaboration with referring obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and a wide variety of medical and surgical sub-specialists at our Children's Hospital, our specialists counsel families who expect newborns with congenital conditions that will require care in our NICU.
Our team of trained physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and other health professionals provide supportive, family-centered care in a technologically driven environment. The expertise of our physicians spans from the care of extremely premature infants to the care of term infants with a variety of medical and surgical illnesses.
