Sponsored by Albany Medical College’s Department of Medicine, Division of HIV Medicine and the Office of Continuing Medical Education.

Changes occur rapidly in the fields of HIV and Hepatology. This course is designed to provide practitioners with the most up-to-date clinical information on a variety of topics to assist in their care of patients living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C. Presentation formats include didactic sessions and interactive case presentations, followed by subsequent question and answer periods.

The symposium will be of interest to physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, social workers, mental health practitioners, and case managers who care for those infected with HIV and Hepatitis C.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  1. Discuss the current standards of care for initial and preferred therapy for HIV infection.
  2. Review approved HCV therapies for patients with chronic and acute hepatitis C infections.
  3. Describe cardiovascular risk and adverse events associated with antiretroviral therapy.
  4. Discuss the current guidelines for initiating HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).
  5. Describe updates in sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
  6. List three smoking cessation strategies for patients with nicotine addiction.
  7. Describe the relationship between mood disorders and HIV.
  8. Apply presented strategies for treatment to case presentations.

REFUNDS:

Refunds are possible if cancellation of registration is received in writing by June 1. After June 1, refunds are not possible, but a substitute may be sent in you place. Refunds are processed only when a written request is received by the Office of CME.

This course may fill prior to the early registration deadline. Register early to secure a space.
