Albany Police Department
Albany Medical Center and the City of Albany have always worked collaboratively to promote a safe neighborhood. To further deter crime, Albany Medical Center donated office space (located at 409 Myrtle Avenue, adjacent to campus) to the City of Albany Police Department (APD) in 2009 for the establishment of a strategic deployment unit. The APD Strategic Deployment Unit is a 24-person operation that covers the City of Albany with car, foot and bike patrols from 6pm-2am, seven days a week.
St. Rose College
Albany Medical Center, in partnership with The College of St. Rose, is proud to offer the "Shuttle You Home" service. The shuttle conveniently picks up students in front of the Medical College's Neil Hellman Building entrance at 8:15pm, 9:15pm, 10:15PM, 11:15pm and 12:15pm, and at 16 New Scotland Avenue at 8:20pm, 9:20pm, 10:20pm, 11:20pm and 12:20am, Monday through Friday, and provides those who show an ID badge and live within a 1.5 mile radius of campus a safe ride home.
The Division of Criminal Justice Services
In cooperation with the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Albany Medical Center performs criminal background checks on all prospective employees. The process entails fingerprinting the applicant and submitting the fingerprints electronically to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, which in turn sends a response back to Albany Med usually within 24 hours.
