Graduate Studies Program
The Graduate Studies Program at Albany Medical College comprises a Basic Science Division and a Clinical Science Division. The Basic Science Division offers both Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science degrees.
The Basic Science Division provides an opportunity to join in the excitement of research and discovery. In addition to completing course work, the student is an integral and contributing member of a research team, joining established scientists and other scientists-in-training in a collective effort to learn what was previously unknown. By the time students complete a graduate degree program, they are an expert in the science and technology of their field. They are prepared to enter the community ofbiomedical scientists.
The interdisciplinary program is built upon four interdepartmental research theme groups:
Neuropharmacology and Neuroscience
Cell and Molecular Biology
Cellular and Molecular Pathogenesis and Cancer
Physician Assistant Program
The physician assistant (PA) is a health professional who is qualified by academic and clinical training to provide health care services with supervision by a licensed physician. Physician assistants may perform diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and health maintenance services in any setting in which a physician renders care. This allows more effective and focused application of the physician's particular knowledge and skills.
