Third Year Residents Class of 2016

Tiffany Bombard, MD
Albany Medical College

Tiff bombard spent her first career as a paramedic and continues as a strong presence in EMS.  She recalls enjoying the outdoors before coming to medical school at Albany Medical College and is hoping to someday re-claim non-translucent skin and strong limbs.  In the meantime she is learning to be an awesome doctor, while perfecting her already well honed skills in the areas of coffee drinking, sleep deprivation and inappropriate humor.  She lives in Albany with her handsome partner Matt and their fierce and mighty pitbull, Stella (who needs a sweater in cool weather.  Who ever heard of a pitbull wearing a sweater?).

Jeremy Brown, MD
Stony Brook University

Jeremy Brown grew up not far from the Albany area.  He attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut majoring in Economics and Biochemistry and graduating with his Bachelor of Arts.  After spending a year working in Oregon with underserved populations, he attended Stony Brook University School of Medicine on Long Island and graduated with his Doctor of Medicine.  He is happy to be back near family and training in the Albany area at Albany Medical Center.

Carl Daniel, DO
UNECollege of Osteopathic Medicine

Carl Daniel was born and raised in New Jersey.  He was an undergradaute at Hope College, MI.  Upon graduation, he joined the Marine Coprs and served as an infantryman.  He attended UNECOM and was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Navy upon graduation.  He completed a surgical internship at National Naval Medical Center and after further training, he was designated a Flight Surgeon, was assigned to an attack helicopter squadron in Jacksonville, and deployed once upon USS Iwo Jima. He enjoys sleep depirivation, singing and rearranging the skeletons in his front yard. 

Thomas Dittrich,MD
Temple University School of Medicine

Tom has lived in four states and completed his education in four countries including the US, Czech Republic, New Zealnad and Costa Rica.  He now calls "home" upstate NY where his life revolves around the outdoors, mostly hanging out on his boat on Lake George.  At present he is finishing the 23rd grade as a senior resident at AMC, which has been one awesome gig and the future looks bright.  Tom is headed for somewhere on the ocean where he plans to buy a sailboat big enough to live on and hang out with his dog Rounder.

Jennifer Gibson-Chambers, DO
UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine

Jen grew up in the greater Seattle area and completed her undergradute training in Biology under the oaks at Pacific University.  She completed her Master's Degree in Biostatistics at the School of Public Health at the University of Michigan and worked as a Statistician and an EMT before deciding to go to medical school at the University of New England.  Her personal interests include running, knitting and improving her golfing so that she's actually willing to keep score.  She is married to Kevin, a firefighter/paramedic, and spends mny hours trying to keep up with her shelter-rescue dog Spencer on walks.

Jason Adam Jacque, MD
St. George's University

Adam Jacque was born and raised in Toronto, Canada.  He still returns to Canada for maple syrup harvesting season and igloo building competitions.  He has a pet Moose named Binky, and can occasionally be seen riding Binky to work (wearing a helmet, of course).  He is enjoying Albany for the great staff in the ED, and the delicious graham crackers.

Timothy Jolis, MD
Brown University

Timothy Jolis was born in Mount Kisco, New York and grew up in Virginia. He served as a paratrooper in the US Army before attending Columbia University.  He received his medical degree from Brown University.  His interests are mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, and is always up for a game of Ultimate Frisbee!

Ryan Kindervater, DO
Western University College Osteopathic Medicine

Ryan is originally from the High Desert in Southern California.  He grew up with the national forest at his doorstep, and had a healthy diet of biking, skiing, and horse riding as a kid.  Somewhere between college and med school at Western University, he spent years skiing full time, bouncing around the world skiing, sleeping in cars, and supporting himself as a skiing mascot.  His favorite things about Albany are:  the great friends he's made in the program, amazing mountain biking, proximity to world class climbing (rock and ice), and when the leaves change color in the fall. He will be heading to Wyoming next year to work on his climbing and skiing, between shifts that is.

Joshua Klindienst, MD
New York University School of Medicine

Josh Klindienst grew up in Westhampton Beach, NY.  He had a complicated undergraduate career involving time at Suffolk Community College, SUNY Stony Brook, and Brandeis University before gettign his medical degree at MY.  He enjoys skiing, running, swordfights, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and is a nap aficionado.

Andrew Payne, MD
West Virginia School of Medicine

Nathan Payne was born and rasied in Charleston, West Virginia.  He attended Denison University and studied English with a concentration in creative writing.  He received a medical degree from West Virginia University.  He enjoys reading, writing, skiing, hiking, and board games.

Kristen Peace, MD
Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University

Kristen is an upstate New York girl, born and raised in Old Chatham, NY.  She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, for a B.S. in Management, followed by a Postbac Pre-Med program at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Marw, PA.  She than went to medical school at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA.  Outside of work, she enjoys watching hockey (and The Real Housewives), running, Blue Moon, playing golf, and anything pink and sparkly.  Albany Med was her #1 choice and she couldn't be happier to be part of the AMC ED team.

Laura Weber, MD
The Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University

Laura Weber is a Northern California transplant. living in NY for 17 years except for a four-year jaunt to Chicago to attend Chicago Medical School.  Five-year plan includes pursuing international EM projects and continue to hang with her family as much as possible.

Andrew Bachman, MD
SUNY Upstate Medical University

Andy Bachman was born and raised in teh foothills of the ADK's in Queensbury, NY before heading to Clarkson University and than SUNY Upstate Medical University.  He is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and loves to play hockey, lacrosse, and soccer.  He is trying to become an Adirondack 46er and a better fly fisherman.  He takes BBQ much more seriously than he takes himself.  Cookies are good!

Christopher Hanowitz, MD
Albany Medical College

Chris grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts where his family still resides and he frequently visits.  He attended Duke University for his undergradaute education.  Chris always knew he wanted to be a physician but has also always had a multitude of interests both academic and recreational.  As such, during college in addition to studying biology and fulfilling the requirements for medical school his primary major was Religious Studies.  He attended Albany Medical College for his medical education and during that timecame to love the capital region to the point that he decided to stay for residency.  In his time away from the hospital, he enjoys everything from visiting museums to landscaping to hiking.

Hugo Hanson III, DO
NYCOM Institue of Technology

Hugo Hanson gre up in New Jersey, but spent most of his adolescence in Vermont and Colorado.  He was an undergraduate at the University of Colorado in Boulder and received his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He enjoys snowboarding, traveling, hiking, photography, and cooking. 

Erica Igbinoghene, MD
University of VA School of Medicine

Erica Igbinoghene was born in the Bronx, NY, and grew up in the Bronx and Nigeria.  She received her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine.  She enjoys spending time with friends and family, assisting in her sister's event planning company, cooking, traveling, and volunteering in the community.  Professionally, Erica hopes to embark on medical misions where she can help train other medical personnel and provide medical aid to people in desperate need around the world. 

Ariel LeRoy, MD
Geisel School of Medicine

Ariel LeRoy was born and raised in Newport, NH.  She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for her undergraduate degree, followed by medical school at Dartmouth (renamed Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth).  She is interested in running, hiking, soccer, basketball, and sending time with family.  Ariel is married to Mitchell LeRoy, who is currently a PhD candidate at RPI in the field of electrical engineering.

Sade McKenzie, MD
Univeristy of Rochester School of Medicine

Sade McKenzie was raised in Albany.  She was an undergradaute at Union College in Schenectady, NY and received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry.  Her interests are running, exercise, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Matthew Mehne, MD
University of New Mexico School of Medicine

Matt Mehne was born in Long Beach, CA and grew up  in Aibonito, Puerto Rico.  He was an undergraduate at the University of Southern California where he also received a Master's Degree in Computer Science.  He attended medical school at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.  Matt enjoys biking, snowboarding, playing guitar, random trivia, good food, and trying new things.

Emily Miller, MD
University of MA Medical School

Emily Miller grew up in Massachusetts and attended Holy Cross, followed by UMass Medical School.  She completed a residency in Pediatrics at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and a fellowship in Critical Cre at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.  She practiced as a PICU attending before deciding to double train in Emergency Medicine.  She lives with her husband, two perfectly angelic children and two poorly behaved but nethertheless lovable feline companions.  She enjoys participating in local road races and triathlons as well as spending time with her family, taking advantage of the many beautiful parks, playgrounds, and trains in the Albany area.

Daniel Tupy, MD
Georgetown University School of Medicine

Daniel Tupy was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area.  His family is originally from the Czech Republic.  He attended Georgetown University for both undergraduate and medical school with two years off in between  His interests are long distane bicycle tours and exploring the great outdoors.  He dreams of one day building his own cabin and cycling around the world.  Until then, he is psyched to be a resident at Albany Medical Center.

Stephen Verdini, MD
Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

Steve grew up just outside of Albany in East Greenbush, New York.  He did his undergraduate studies at SUNY Geneseo and then attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida.  Steve lives with his better half (labradoodle Brady) and soon to be wife.  When it's warm out he prefers being on a golf course or on a lake and in the winter likes to ski.  He wakes up every day thankful to be a Patriots fan.  Steve thinks the amazing people at Albany Med and the great pathology is what makes the program such an awesome place to train; and the Albany area offers plenty of great things to do year round.

Thomas Williams, MD
University of CT School of Medicine

Before coming to Albany, Tom was born in England, grew up in Oklahoma, and went to College in Missouri.  Tom played soccer through college and than lived in England/traveled Europe for a year after college before going back to school for med school pre-requisites.  Tom worked at a boring job in Connecticut for 2 years while applying to med school.  He subsequently met his girlfriend, got accepted to UCONN SOM, and found the best dog in the world before moving to Albany with dog (and girlfriend).
Tom came to Albany because of the friendly, relaxed program, great diversity of cases and large catchment area.  Tom was also attracted by the great outdoor opportunities with the Adirondacks, Catskills, Green Mountains, Bershires all within a short drive;.  Plenty of season activities plus plenty of people with similiar interests so you never have to go solo

Gregory Wu, MD
University of MA Medical School

Greg Wu is originally from the Boston area buyt has called many places in the Northeast home. He attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, and graduated with a B.A. in Biochemistry.  He then went to University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worchester, MA and graduated with his MD.  He is continuing his tour of I-90 here in Albany Medical Center.  He enjoys bass fishing, skiing, and building computers.  His professional interests include critical care, ultrasound, and copious amounts of coffee.

Liqun Chen, MD
University of Vermont College of Medicine

Liqun Chen was born and raised in Shanghai, China.  He moved with his parents to Honolulu around age 12 and finally settled in Fremont, California.  He graduated from the University of California, Davis for undergraduate study and the University of Vermont for his medical degree.  He is an avid tennis fan of Rafeal Nadal and a tennis player  himself.  He also enjoys snowboarding, biking, and teaching.

Lance Dickey, MD
Boston University School of Medicine 

Lance Dickey was born and raised outside of Logan, Utah. 
 He was an undergradaute at Utah State University
 and received a medical degree from Boston University. 
 His interests include extreme caving, rock climbing,
 cycling and almost any other outdoor activity. 
 Lance and his wife Danielle, have two children:  Mason, 4 years old, and WIllow, 10 months.  

Kimberly Donahue, MD
Albany Medical College

Kimberly Donahue attended Russll Sage College in Troy, NY and received a medical degree from the Albany Medical College.  Her interests are hiking, knitting, and gardening.  Kim shares her home with her two chidren and two Newfoundland dogs.

Christopher Downey, MD
St. George's University

Christopher Downey was born and raised in Averill Park, NY .  He was an undergraduate at Salisbury University in Maryland and received a medical degree from St. George's University in Grenada.  In his free time, he enjoys snowboarding, playing guitar, and asketball.

Emily Esposito, DO
NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine

Emily was born and raised in Syracuse, NY.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University and medical education at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She lives in downtown Albany with her husband Chris, also new to the AMC family.  She enjoys spending time on the lake, golfing, hiking, snowboarding, college basketball, baking, concerts and trying new restaurants (especially vegetarian ones!).  Emily is interested in pursuing fellowship training after residency.                                                          

David Kassel, MD
University of Arizona College of Medicine

David "Misha" Kassel was borin in Rochester and grew up in Phoenix.  He got his undergraduate degree in Business from Arizona State and after three excruciatingly long months of working in a cubicle, he made the career change and received his medical degree from the University of Arizona.  His interests include soccer,skiing, and traveling.  EM interests:  trying to graduate in one piece and international medicine.

Matthew Ruppel, DO
Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine

Matthew Ruppel grew up in Sleepy Hollow, NY, home of the Headless Horseman.  He attended the College of Holy Cross and received a medical degree from Philadelphia College of Oseopathic Medicine.  His interests include long distance running, home brewing, experimenting in the kitchen, and maively believing that the NY Jets will be better next year.  He is engaged to be married to Kimberly, an Italian teacher. 

Jason Schwaber, MD
UC San Diego School of Medicine

Jason Schwaber went to medical school at UC San Diego, finished a pediatrics residency at the University of Vermont on 2010, and has been working for Boston Children's Hospital as a pediatrician in the emergency department in two community hospitals, which only showed him how much more he needs to learn.  He has two young children, ages 3 and 6 who routinely prevent him from sleeping.  In his free time, he enjoyes beer, cooking, the Adirondacks, and cross country skiing. 

Jeremy Semeiks, MD, Ph.D.
University of Texas Southwestern Medical School

Jeremy Semeiks grew up in Schodack, a small town across the river from Albany, and was an undergraduate at UAlbany.  He then moved to the Bay Area and worked at a tech startup and then at a national lab before going to Dallas for the MD/PhD program at UT Southwestern.  He enjoys mountains, trees, gardening, weightlifting, and messing with computers.

Michael Waldrop, MD
SUNY Upstate Medical School

Michael Waldrop grew up in Buffalo, NY .  He attended Stony Brook University  for his bachelors in biochemistry before graduating from SUNY Upstate Medical University with a medical degree.  Professionally, he is interested in toxicology and EMS, while personally he enjoys ultimate Frisbee, playing music and anything outdoors.

Casey Wilson, MD, MPH
University of Vermont School of Medicine

Casey Wilson grew up in and around the Mount Rainier National Park in Washington State where he worked as a backcountry ranger.  He was an undergradaute at Pomona College, attended graduate school at the University of Washington and receveid a medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine.  His interests are skiing, backcountry touring, and wilderness medicine.  Casey lives in Albany with his wife Emily and his daughters Audry (4 years old) and Juliet (14 months old).
