Albany Medical College commencement ceremony took place Thursday, May 21, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

The college awarded more than 200 degrees at the ceremony, including medical degrees, Master of Science degrees in Physician Assistant Studies, Nurse Anesthesiology and Bioethics, and Master of Science and doctoral degrees in Biomedical Science and Bioethics.

The keynote speaker, Elaine Fuchs, Ph.D., is widely credited with developing reverse genetics techniques that have made stem cell and genetic research easier for all scientists.

Dr. Fuchs, who received the 2011 Albany Medical Center Prize in Medicine and Biomedical Research, is Rebecca C. Lancefield professor at Rockefeller University.

Also addressing the graduates was Vincent Verdile, M.D., ’84, The Lynne and Mark Groban, M.D., ’67, Distinguished Dean at Albany Medical College, and executive vice president for health affairs at Albany Medical Center, and Peter Elitzer, vice chair of the Board of Directors of Albany Medical Center, as well as student representatives of the Class of 2015.
