Throughout their four years of study, students gain comprehensive knowledge of both acute and chronic diseases that affect the sequence of childhood growth and development. Faculty members utilize lectures, tutorials and bedside teaching sessions to introduce and illustrate pediatric medicine.

Third-year students complete a clerkship rotation through inpatient and outpatient pediatric services with supplemental seminars which present contemporary patient cases. Seniors may choose electives as acting interns within the general ward services or within the various pediatric subspecialties including allergy, endocrinology, gastroenterology, genetics, hematology/oncology, immunology, infectious disease, metabolism, nephrology, perinatology-neonatology, psychologic pediatrics, pediatric intensive care and development assessment. Senior students are encouraged to participate in continuing research projects conducted by the Department.
