Psychiatrist Aparna Rama Iyer Joins Staff
ALBANY, N.Y., August 24, 2012—Psychiatrist Aparna Rama Iyer, M.D., has joined the Department of Psychiatry at Albany Medical Center and has been appointed assistant professor of psychiatry at Albany Medical College.
Dr. Iyer treats adults with a wide spectrum of psychological conditions, and has a special interest in women’s mental health, eating disorders, addictions and psychotherapy.
A graduate of St. George’s University Medical School in Grenada, Dr. Iyer served most recently as chief medical resident in the Department of Psychiatry at Albany Med.
At Albany Med, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers provide a full range of care for adults and children including consultation, evaluation, and treatments in individual and group settings, as well as psychotherapies and medication management in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Treatment is available for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, co-occurring substance abuse and dependence, eating disorders, trauma, personality disorders, attention deficit disorders, adjustment disorders and others.
