Free Symposium Helps Parents Prepare Teens for College and Future

Parents of students in underrepresented minority students in grades 7 through 12 are invited to a free event designed to help them position children for high school success and prepare both parents and teens for college and the future.

Some of the region’s leading educators and career development and health professionals will discuss topics including careers of the future, getting the most out of the high school years, how adolescent health can affect academic achievement, and financial aid and scholarships.

The symposium is sponsored by Albany Medical College’s Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP). STEP prepares historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged elementary and secondary school students for college and professional careers in the scientific, technical, health-related or other licensed professions. Albany Medical College’s STEP Program, created 20 years ago, is one of only five STEP Programs in the Capital Region.

For more information or to register, call Marva Richards at (518) 262-5982 or email communications@mail.amc.edu and specify “parents program.”
