Dr. Alexander Gozman Joins Melodies Center

ALBANY, N.Y.,  March 29, 2013 Alexander Gozman, M.D., has joined Albany Medical Center’s Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders and has been appointed assistant professor of pediatrics at Albany Medical College.

Dr. Gozman, a pediatric hematologist/oncologist comes to Albany Med from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where he was an assistant professor of pediatrics. He completed both a research and a clinical fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City as well as a residency at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

He has a particular interest in pediatric leukemia. During his fellowship, he was awarded two grants by Weill Cornell Medical College to research novel approaches to treating acute myelogenous leukemia in children. He has also collaborated on several published articles on the subject.

Academic opportunities at Albany Medical College are also attractive to Dr. Gozman, who said he is very interested in helping to educate both medical students and residents.

Dr. Gozman earned his medical degree, as well as a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts in history from Brown University where he was honored for academic excellence. He is board-certified in general pediatrics and board-eligible in pediatric hematology/oncology.

He lives with his wife and son in Glenmont.
