Dr. Charles Bakhos specializes in both open and minimally invasive surgeries of the lungs, pleura and the esophagus. He is an expert in minimally invasive procedures such as thoracoscopic esophagectomies, thoracoscopic (VATS) lobectomies, as well as laparoscopic approaches to treating achalasia, GERD, and hiatal hernia—procedures which are not widely available in our region. These advances in surgical techniques have demonstrated faster patient recoveries and optimal outcomes. Dr. Bakhos has a special interest in lung cancer palliative care, lung cancer screening and the management of peripheral lung nodules. He is an expert in airway surgery as well, including tracheoplasty for the treatment of tracheobronchomalacia.
