Happily, most families can expect an uncomplicated birth and a healthy outcome for both mom and baby. If complications do develop, Albany Medical Center can provide the medical expertise and advanced facilities you or your baby might require.
Our state-of-the-art facilities include the only Level IV Regional Perinatal Care Center in eastern New York and western New England. We also maintain the area's only Level IV neonatal intensive care unit. These are the highest designations awarded by the New York State Department of Health - hospitals such as ours must maintain an experienced, highly trained staff, as well as sophisticated facilities, to receive such a designation. We must also consistently provide the highest level of care for both uncomplicated and complicated births.
Board certified physicians in neonatology and other pediatric subspecialties, as well as maternal-fetal medicine and obstetric anesthesiology, are available around the clock. The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center - located on the 7th floor - is just seconds away.
Chances are, you and your baby will never require the advanced care we can offer. But even so, it's nice to have the comfort of knowing that it's here - just in case.
