Movement Disorders

Treatments

The Neurosciences Institute movement disorder specialists are able to offer advanced diagnostic and treatment options, including innovative surgical procedures such as deep brain stimulation, in collaboration with specially trained neurosurgeons. Deep brain stimulation results in alleviation of symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease, tremor and dystonia.

Physicians of the Neurosciences Institute also have years of botulinum toxin experience and treat a large majority of the region’s botulinum toxin neurology and movement disorder patients, particularly the most complicated cases.

Medications and non-medication approaches can often effectively control the symptoms associated with movement disorders. Our physicians may also provide support and education to families whose lives are affected by movement disorders.

Dr. Julie Pilitsis

Neurosurgeon Julie Pilitsis, MD, PhD, provides surgical treatment of movement disorders and chronic pain. She is also one of the only physicians in the greater Capital District to offer deep brain stimulation (DBS) as a treatment option for movement disorders.
