The Albany Medical Center Advantage A prenatal consultation service is provided by telephone and/or office visit to the Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center. In collaboration with referring obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists and a wide variety of medical and surgical sub-specialists at the Children's Hospital, the members of the Division counsel families who expect newborns with congenital conditions that will require care in our NICU. Members of the Division are actively engaged in a large number of clinical research trials addressing a variety of neonatal care issues. Areas of current interest include: ventilation strategies for respiratory failure, timing and need of blood transfusions, prevention of nosocomial (hospital acquired) infections, hypothermia (low body temperature) for brain injury and assessing perinatal risk factors associated with outcome. The Division also participates in the Albany Medical Center's mission of education by teaching medical students, pediatric residents and fellows. In addition, the Division conducts educational seminars throughout the year at many of the facilities in northeastern New York. Contact Us | |
