The visible signs of facial aging occur over time as a result of sun exposure, heredity and lifestyle. Loss of facial fullness and the development of wrinkles are some of the earliest signs of aging. Fortunately, restoration of facial fullness and elimination of fine lines and wrinkles can be achieved non-surgically with injectable fillers. There are a variety of facial fillers available, and your Albany Medical Center plastic surgeon will work with you to determine which one will provide you with optimal results.
After careful evaluation and examination of the areas to be augmented is performed, strategic points on the face are marked as guides to the appropriate injection sites for the filler. The areas are cleaned and iced or a topical numbing agent may be applied. The procedure takes only a few moments. Following injection, any markings will be cleaned and topical icing is used to alleviate any temporary, minor discomfort.
Results of soft tissue augmentation are apparent immediately. However, mild swelling, bruising, or redness may occur. An over-filled appearance to the treated areas is also common, but these conditions can be relieved with topical icing and will improve within a matter of hours or days.
