Minimally Invasive Cranial Base Surgery Program

Research

Our head, neck and brain anatomy lab is integral to conducting research that allows the development of innovative surgical techniques and improvements to surgical outcomes. The laboratory is also fundamental for teaching residents and students. We perform state of the art arterial and venous injections with colored silicone to study the complex anatomy of the skull base. Residents and students are able to learn via high definition 3-D images.

Research fellowships are also available for the minimum period of six months. Candidates should e-mail Rebecca Warner for more information.

Dr. Marcelo Charles Pereira

From January 2015 through December 2015, Dr.Marcelo Charles Pereira will be the research fellow in the cranial base surgery program. His focus is on Head and Neck and Cranial Base 3D Anatomy.

Research Video - 2 This video demonstrates the dissection of the anterior cranial base. It is demonstrated in this video the steps to perform the resection of the anterior cranial base through endocopic endonasal approach
Research Video - 3

This video demonstrates the dissection of Draf III frontal sinusotomy. This procedure involves the resection of the superior anterior part of the nasal septum and the floor of the frontal sinus. Both fontal sinuses are joined together to form one large cavity.
