Lap Band

A gastric band is inserted through small incisions in the abdomen and placed around the upper portion of the stomach. This creates a pouch which reduces the amount of food the stomach is capable of handling. The stomach is not cut or stapled and the band can be adjusted to meet the patient's needs. Patients usually experience a quick recovery and a shorter hospital stay. This procedure is also fully reversible.
