Specimen Collection: BLOOD: Submit one (4 mL) lavender top tube (K2EDTA) for leukemia or lymphoma or PNH analysis. Submit two 3 mL lavender top tubes for T-cell subsets.
BONE MARROW ASPIRATE: Transfer heparinized aspirate to red, green, or lavender top tube.   
TISSUE: Place in container containing CIL transport media or saline.
CSF: Send two to five mLs to the laboratory as soon as possible.
FLUIDS (BAL, ascites, pleural): Send collection tube ASAP; refrigerate if delayed. 
Minimum Volume: Blood: 3 mL Bone Marrow Aspirate: 2 to 3 mL CSF: 2 to 5 mL depending on cellularity 
Handling Instructions for Offsite Areas: BLOOD: Transport and store at 2-8ºC. Blood must be received in the lab within 24 hours of draw. BONE MARROW ASPIRATE: Transport and store at 2-8ºC. Aspirate must be received in the lab within 48 hours of draw. TISSUE: Store at refrigerator temperature. DO NOT add any fixative to container. Must be received within 24 hours of procedure. CSF: Store specimen in refrigerator if necessary. Must be received as soon as possible or within 24 hours of draw. FLUIDS: Must be received as soon as possible and within 48 hours. Note: Blood for T-cell subsets is analyzed M-F and must be received in the lab by 4 pm Friday; blood specimens received after 5 pm on Friday to Sunday morning will exceed the 24 hour rejection time and will be rejected on receipt on Monday morning.
