Our Nursing Mission

The mission of nursing at Albany Medical Center is to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care that is driven by the individual needs of patients and their families, and results in the best possible outcome. It is the role of each nurse to practice within defined scopes and standards.

Utilizing the AACN’s Synergy Model for Patient Care, nursing works collaboratively with members of the health care team to assure that the care is patient/family centered, quality/cost competitive, and achieved through a working and learning environment that fosters teamwork and commitment to shared values and goals.

The Nursing Organization structure consists of six nursing committees; each focused on a particular area of excellence, and includes representation of nurses from across the facility.  Recognition is valued and evident on an individual and professional basis.  Celebrations of excellence are held often to share outcome data and success stories.

Concentration on the nurse sensitive indicators of pain management, skin integrity, fall prevention, CAUTI, CLABI, medication safety and the patient experience, to name several, has resulted in clear evidence that these elements are hardwired into practice.

Both the art and science of nursing are reflected in the passion for caring that is the essence of Nursing Care at the Albany Medical Center.
