ALBANY, N.Y., March 14, 2012-Jeffrey Gordon has been named vice president for communications at Albany Medical Center.

In this position, Gordon, who served as director of public affairs for the New York State Department of Health, will lead all of the institution's internal and external communication efforts, including marketing and advertising, public relations, corporate communications, and digital media. He will report to Kim Fine, senior vice president for policy, planning and communications.

"We are thrilled to have someone with Jeffrey's extensive experience in high-profile media relations leading our communications strategies," said Fine. "His enthusiasm and insight will be an incredible asset to our team as the Medical Center expands to meet the growing needs of its community."

Gordon has served as director of communications for several New York State agencies, including the Division of Budget and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority. A former reporter, he also served as press secretary to the New York State Comptroller. He is a graduate of Oberlin College and received a master of public administration from Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
