$150,000 Gift Commitment from First Niagara Bank Will Support Patient Pavilion Project at Albany Medical Center
ALBANY, N.Y., August 14, 2012-Albany Medical Center has announced that it has received a $150,000 donation from First Niagara Bank to support construction of the new Patient Pavilion.
"Through this generous gift, First Niagara once again demonstrates its commitment and dedication to our community," said Steven Frisch, M.D., hospital general director and executive vice president at Albany Medical Center. "This support will help us meet the growing demands of our community while greatly improving the landscape of the Park South neighborhood. We are most appreciative for First Niagara's support and partnership."
"We are proud to partner with Albany Medical Center and are fortunate to have this exceptional organization in our community," says Upstate New York Regional President Peter Cosgrove. "At First Niagara, we believe in supporting the organizations and programs that truly make a difference in our community."
A conference room in the new Patient Pavilion will be dedicated to recognize and honor the gift from First Niagara. This space will be used by health care providers as they collaborate on complex patient cases, as well as for meetings, workshops and other functions.
The $360 million Patient Pavilion construction project is slated to be finished in 2013.
The new building housing the Patient Pavilion will be connected to the current hospital and to a recently completed 1,500-space parking garage. It will contain:
- 20 additional operating room suites
- 60 medical/surgical beds
- 56 neonatal intensive care unit beds
- 30 adult intensive care unit beds
The new building is surrounded by four other new office buildings constructed in the past few years by private developers that include office, educational and medical space for Albany Med and administrative offices for the Albany Stratton VA Hospital, as well as retail space for several businesses and banks that have moved into the area.
Gilbane Inc. is overseeing the construction of the Patient Pavilion and TRO Jung Brannen Inc. is the architect for the project.
