Parkinson’s Disease Expert Joins Albany Medical Center

ALBANY, N.Y., January 27, 2011-Neurologist Adolfo Ramirez-Zamora, M.D., has joined Albany Medical Center as assistant professor in the movement disorders division of the department of neurology. Dr. Ramirez-Zamora specializes in treating Parkinson's disease, tremors, gait disorders, dystonia, and other movement disorders. He has been specially trained to treat patients using deep brain stimulation-which enables electrical impulses to be sent to the brain for the treatment of Parkinson's and other movement disorders and in the use of botulinum toxin for management of neurological disorders.

Dr. Ramirez-Zamora recently completed a fellowship in movement disorders at the University of California at San Francisco. He completed a neurology residency at Loyola University of Chicago. In addition, he performed an internship in internal medicine at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown and a general surgery internship at Mercy Catholic Medical Center in Philadelphia

Dr. Ramirez-Zamora received his medical degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Mexico. He is board certified in both neurology and psychiatry.

Dr. Ramirez-Zamora is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and basic Japanese.
