How To Make A Gift - In Honor/Memory Of
There is often no better way to honor or memorialize that special person than by making a gift in their name. At Albany Medical Center, we offer you several options to make your tribute gift matter:
Honor Gifts
Did you or a loved one receive excellent medical care at Albany Med and want to say thank you to a caregiver or even an entire department? Have you and your family decided that the best gift to give for a special event is a contribution in a loved one’s name? If so, please denote that your gift is in honor of someone special when making your gift. Additionally, you can restrict your gift to a certain department or division.
If the person(s) you wish to honor works at Albany Med, they will receive a Champion pin. As part of our Grateful Patient Program, this pin offers the Albany Medical Center Foundation a special way to let each honored person know that someone has personally acknowledged them for the care they gave. This pin will be given to each honored person or department, recognizing the Champions of Albany Med for their hard work and efforts in offering quality, compassionate care.
Memorial Gifts
Friends and family members of the deceased often choose to express their respect in a more enduring way than with cards or flowers. Making a charitable contribution in the name of a lost loved one can have special meaning to both the family and the donor. This lasting gift also serves to support Albany Medical Center in its mission to achieve excellence in patient care, education and research -- making a tangible difference in the health of our community. Additionally, you can designate your gift to a certain department or division.
Whether you choose to restrict your gift to a certain department or division, be assured that it will make an immediate difference in the work we do pursuing excellence in patient care, education and research -- our tripartite mission.
After you make your tribute gift, a letter announcing your contribution will be mailed to the family of the deceased or the honoree (however, no mention will be made of the gift’s value). You will receive an acknowledgement for your gift for tax purposes and your gift will be recognized in Albany Medical Center’s Annual Report of Gifts.
Directing Memorial Gifts to Albany Medical Center
Hundreds of families each year ask how to list Albany Medical Center as a designated charity in their loved one’s obituary to benefit a specific program or department. It is for this reason that we offer the following suggested language:
“In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation in memory of (Name of Loved One) to (Name of Department, Program or Fund) at Albany Medical Center, c/o Albany Medical Center Foundation, P.O. Box 8928, Albany, NY 12208”
