Ambulatory Care
The 2007-2008 academic year brings some exciting changes to our ambulatory practice for our Internal Medicine residents. We have quite a few ongoing quality improvement projects which have led to several residents having posters accepted for both past conferences, as well the upcoming October 2007 NY ACP Upstate Scientific Meeting. (See attached summary of information about pharyngitis diagnosis and treatment)
Our ambulatory staff has been working closely with our residents to help us make improvements, including the creation of an Ambulatory Care Task Force. The task force allows a multidisciplinary forum for constructive feedback to be given directly in the clinic setting to allow for a more positive experience. Thank you to all our residents who participated in our Ambulatory Care Task Force, and secondly a special thanks to all our graduated third year residents who volunteered their time and energy to begin much needed changes.
The main issues being addressed center around how to improve delivery of care at the Internal Medical Group clinic; which includes continuity of care, how to handle late admissions, developing ways to educate and deliver information to the out patient population, and continue to provide intensive teaching and learning opportunities for our residents.
It has been very exciting to work so closely with such wonderful residents. I look forward to continuing to help each and every resident to get the most from his/her residency experience at AMC.
