Radiology Case-
A 64-year-old Male with Acute Shortness of Breath and Hypoxia

Carol Sue Gonyo, MD

BRIEF CLINICAL BACKGROUND

A 64-year-old white male was transferred from a subacute rehabilitation center with shortness of breath and hypoxia associated with mental status changes while at physical therapy. The patient had been discharged from the hospital ten days prior, after a sixteen day stay for a septic right hip and chronic osteomyelitis. He had been bed-ridden secondary to pain. Upon this admission, the patient appeared acutely dyspneic and tachypneic, with an oxygen saturation of approximately 80% on room air. A CT scan was performed.

Based on the CT scan finding, what is the diagnosis?
