The Office of Academic Affairs oversees the required senior clerkships and electives lottery. Once the lottery results are available, any and all changes are made through the Office of Student Records.
TO ADD AND DROP ELECTIVES
A student may add or drop an elective at any time AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS prior to the start of the period. The student obtains an Add/Drop form in the Office of Student Records and requests the course instructor’s signature on the form. The instructor’s signature on the form indicates approval for the student to add or drop the course. The completed form is returned to the Office of Student Records for final approval by the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs. Please note that a few electives in the catalog are clearly designated “MAY NOT BE DROPPED.” Information concerning openings in all AMC elective courses is available in the Office of Student Records.
Students may arrange an elective which is not in the electives catalog with a preceptor affiliated with AMC. The student must speak with the preceptor to arrange an elective experience, and then obtain a Self-Arranged elective form in the Office of Student Records. The Self-Arranged elective form must be signed by the preceptor and a description must be provided. Signed paperwork needs to be returned to the Office of Student Records for final approval from the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs. Paperwork must be completed AT LEAST FOUR WEEKS prior to the start of the elective.
