Visiting Students
Welcome! As you embark on your final year of medical school, we hope that you will take this opportunity to consider Albany Medical College's fourth year elective program. AMC invites students who are completing their final year and that are in good academic standing with their home school to participate in this competitive and reputable program. Prospective students must also obtain their institution's approval which will enable them to pursue their desired elective at AMC.
Please note: Albany Medical College is now utilizing VSAS, the Visiting Student Application Service, to receive visiting student applications for the 2009-2010 academic year. If you are attending a U.S. medical school, you will go through VSAS, however, if you attend an international medical school or osteopathic school, please submit the paperwork listed under Requirements.

REQUIREMENTS
International applicants must enclose the all of the following documents to ensure a successful submission:
- AMC's completed Elective Application Form
- Official copy of medical school transcripts
- Letter of recommendation from the Dean, including student's academic standing
- Proof of health insurance
- Proof of malpractice/liability insurance
- Completed Pre-rotation Health Assessment Form
- Proof of a complete physical performed within six months prior to the onset of the rotation
- Documentation (including lab reports) of positive titers against the following:
- Chicken Pox (Varicella)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Rubeola
- Hepatitis B
ANY INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL BE RETURNED TO SENDER DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME THAT WE RECEIVE. WE WILL NOT HOLD APPLICATIONS THAT ARE MISSING ANY OF THE ABOVE MATERIAL.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
Each visiting student may only take up to eight weeks of elective time during the academic year. The desired elective dates that the student selects must correspond with AMC's elective periods, which can be found here.
Lastly, room, board and meals are the responsibility of the visiting student and are not provided by AMC.
