patient Simulation
The Albany Medical College Center for Nurse Anesthesiology is currently utilizing Laerdal Sim-Man manikins and software to augment clinical teaching for graduate students. The two adult and one pediatric manikins are state-of-the-art computerized systems that are designed to enhance the clinical learning environment.
Throughout the program graduate students will experience simulated learning starting with an introduction to anesthesia in the first semester and advancing throughout the program to include induction, maintenance, emergence, ACLS, and crisis management. Graduate students will be encouraged to utilize this resource throughout the program to practice techniques and skills in conjunction with their clinical experiences.
In addition to the Sim-Man manikins, the Center for Nurse Anesthesiology has multiple other manikins that are specific to simulating regional anesthesia and invasive monitoring techniques. These devices are available to graduate students to practice spinal, epidural, and CVP skills throughout the duration of the program.
